To achieve success in any endeavor you must possess a burning desire in order to do what is necessary for its attainment. Simply wanting something is not enough.
Your determination and drive to take action are based on how much you desire the outcome and how valuable it is to you. If you study the lives of successful people throughout history you will find that most possessed a white heat of desire that became a healthy obsession which drove all other necessary components.. Once you find this within yourself you will do whatever it takes and accept no excuses.
Napoleon Hill said, “You need to create a “white-hot burning desire” to achieve your Definite Major Purpose, but the desire doesn’t magically attract results: the desire gives you the motivation and perseverance you’ll need to sustain massive action to achieve your goals. In order to act, you must have a purpose. If you want to act successfully in all but the most mundane affairs, you must embrace that purpose with a burning desire. Many people think they want to be successful, but since they do not back that thought with an intense drive, they never achieve success. Cultivate your desire. Feed it with thoughts of yourself enjoying whatever it is you seek. It’s like stoking the furnace of a steam engine. You need to build up enough pressure to carry yourself over hills; if your desire doesn’t burn hotly enough, you’ll find yourself stalled and rolling backwards. The secret to action is a red-hot desire.”
Here are 3 tips to help you find your burning desire:
- Think about what your passion is. If you love what you do you will be much more inspired and motivated to move forward and take risks.
- Focus on the outcome. Block out distractions and toxic people so you can concentrate your energy on what you want in your life. Feed your desire with thoughts of enjoying your outcome.
- Study & connect with like minded people that share your passion.
Some people feel unable to to locate their own burning desire which causes confusion about their true potential & purpose. If you feel this way clear your mind, breath, & pay attention. It may take time and practice but it starts by simply identifying clearly what you want to accomplish. Evaluate what you do every day with your time, thoughts, emotions, energy…etc. Positive daily rituals and new habits will help as well. When you focus your energy on a singular purpose with no option for retreat you will find what you seek eventually no matter how long it takes.
